DECLARING AN !- Ift,RGENCY.
1THER~iAS, the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, has agreed
to purchase M. J. Construction Company Special Assessment Certificates
upon homestead property assessed; and,
N EREAS, there is needed the sum of Six Thousand Dollars
0;6,000.00) to purchase said Special Assessment Certificates; and,
hYHEREAS, there is sufficient funds in the Current Fund
No. 102, which is now unencumbered and which funds are available
for this purpose;
NOGG, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUEGIL OF T$m
CITY OF CORPUS =ISTI, TEXAS;
SECTION 1. That there is hereby transferred the sum of
Six Thousand Dollars ( {,6,000.00) from Current Fund No. 102 to Side-
walk Construction Fund No. 208 which money is to be used for the
purchase of Special Assessment Certificates on homestead property
held by I& J. Construction Company.
SECTION 2. The fact that said 1d. J. Construction Company
has completed its contract with the City in the building of sidewalks
and the fact that it is necessary to purchase Special Assessment
Certificates in conformity vi th the City's contract with T.T. J. Construc-
tion Company creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the piayor having declared that
such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having
requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDIDIGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen;
I have examined the accounts and fund "from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinance attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appropria-
tion is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which such
appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in such
fund which are not appropriated for any other purpose and which
are available at this time.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
Foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; 1, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
