WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi,
was requested, under date of August 6, 1946, to consider an amend-
ment to the existing zoning ordinance in order to permit the use
of a triangular tract of land formed by the West side of Port
Avenue intersecting with the Southeast side of Prescott Street,
being a part of the North �,uarter of the South 4uarter and the
West Quarter of the South Quarter of Section G of the Sectionized
Portion of the Hoffman Tract ly:'ng West of the West Margin of
Port Avenue and Southeast of the Southeast Margin of Prescott
Street in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and
consisting of six acres owned by the Lee Baking Company, ten
acres under option to the American Bottling Works, and containing
sixteen acres of land; and,
WHEREAS, the City Councii, of the City of Corpus Christ,
Texas, submitted such request to the Cite- Zonin- and Planning
Commission on or about the 13th day of August A.D. 1947, and the
same was considered by said zoning and planning commission , at
its meetings on the following days: August 21, 1947; August 27,
1947; September b, 1947; aria September 10, 1947, and at the
meeting'of Zonin, and Planning Commission, held on the 10th
say of September, 1947, the said Zoning and Planning Commission
unanimously voted to disapprove the requested amendment to the
existing; Zoning Ordinance; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council was on or about the 16th day
of September, 1947, requested to call a public hearing in accord-
ance with the provisions of the existing Zoning Ordinances per-
taining to such tract of land, and in pursuant to such request
did order a public hearing to be held by the City Council on
the 7th day of October A.D. 1947, at 7 :30 orclock P.M., for
the purpose of giving all interested parties, citizens and
property owners the opportunity to be heard on the proposed
zoning classification of the said area, and notices of such
hearing was published in the Corpus Christi Press on the 20th
and 27th days of September, 1947, and the 2nd day of October,
1947; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council did on the 7th day of October,
A.D. 1947, at the time and place specified in said notice, hold
such hearing where all interested citizens, property owners and
other parties had an opportunity to be heard on the proposed
amendment the Zoning Ordinance and map of the City of Corpus
Christi; and,
WHEREAS, at such hearing all of the discussions and pro-
posals in regard to said Zoning by parties appearing thereat
were heard and considered by the City Council:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIN D BY THh COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI:
SECTION I. That following described area, to -wit:
Being a part of the North Quarter of the South
Quarter and the West 4uarter of the South duarter
of the Section G of the Sectionized Portion of the
Hoffman Tract; lying West of the West Margin of
Port Avenue and the Southeast quarter of the South-
east Margin of Prescott Street and described by
metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at a 1 inch iron pipe set flush with the
ground in the West Boundary line in the right away
of Port Avenue a public highway for the most Northerly
East corner of this Tract;
Thence South 0 deg. 561 10" East with the said
West boundary line of Port Avenue 1562.10 feet
to a 3/4 inch iron pipe set flush with the ground
in the West boundary line of Port Avenue for the
most Southeasterly corner of this Tract.
Thence North 61 deg. 40" West parallel with, and
42.68 feet, Southwesterly measured at right angles,
from the Southwesterly line of the West Quarter of
the South Quarter of the Northeasterly line of the
West Quarter of the South Quarter of Section G of
the Sectionized Portion of Hoffman Tract, a distance
of 893.16 feet to a 1 inch iron pipe set flush with
the ground in the Southeast margin of the public
road known as Prescott Street for the West corner
of this survey.
Thence North 28 deg. 191 30" East parallel with
and 20 feet Southeasterly measured at right angles
from the Northwest boundary line of the North Quarter
of the South Quarter of Section G of the Sectionized
Portion of the Hoffman Tract, a distance of 1362.68
feet to a 1 inch iron pipe set flush with the
Ground in the Southeast Margin of the right -away of
Prescott Street, and in the Northeast boundary line
of the North Quarter of the South Quarter of Section
G of the Sectionized Portion of Koffman Tract, for
the North corner of this survey.
Thence South 61 deg. 40" East with the Northeast
boundary line of the North Quarter of the South
Quarter, being also the Southwest boundary line
of the West Quarter of the East Quarter of the
said Section G, a distance of 129.70 feet to the
place of beginning.
Containing in area of exactly 16 acres of land.

SECTION 2. That the official zoning map of the City of
Corpus Christi is hereb amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or part of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 4. The fact that it is of the greatest public
importance to immediately put in force zoning regulations in the
area hereinabove described, which at present is without adequate
zoning classification, for the purpose of providing for the
orderly and progressive building and improving of the said area
and for the orderly and progressive growth of the City, and the
necessary protection of the lives, health, property and welfare
of the citizens in said area, as well as the general public,
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is
introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three (6) several meetings of the City Council, and the
Mayor, having declared that such public emergency and such im-
perative public necessity exist, requests that said Charter
Rule be suspended and that this Ordinance take effect and be
in full force and effect from and after its passage and after
its publication one time as is provided and required by the
Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, AND IT IS SU ORDAINIM.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause
of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative
public necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter Rule
requiring that no ordinance or resolution be passed finally on
the date of its introduction, and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council. I,
therefore, hereby request thae you suspend said Charter Rule
or requirement, and pass said Ordinance on the date of its intro-
duction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
