Christi, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute

Junior College District, a copy of which Lease Agreement is made a

of October, A.D. 1947, by and between the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, a municipal corporation, hereinafter called CITY, and the
Corpus Christi Junior College District, a public corporation of
Nueces County, Texas, acting herein by its duly elected and
authorized President and Secretary of its Board of 'trustees,
hereinafter called LLSSa,
W I T N E 56 ETH:
For and in consideration of One ($1.00) Dollar in hand
paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, does by these presents irrevocably lease
and demise unto the said Corpus Christi Junior College District,
for a period of Fire (5) years, beginning on the 17th day of
October, 1947, . and ending on the 16th day of October, 1952, the
following; described tract of land located in the City of Corpus
Christi, Nueces County, Texas, to -wit:
beginning at a point in the West boundary line
of Burns Street and the South boundary line of
Raminez Street extended for the Northeast corner
of this description;
Thence, S. 35 deg. 161 01" W. with the East
boundary line of Burns Street, a distance of 225
feet to the Southeast corner of Lot 16 of said
S.E. 1 /41br the Southeast corner of this description;
Thence N. 54 deg. 431 59" W. with the :youth
boundary line of said Lot 16 a distance of 70.25
feet to its intersection with the West boundary
line of Colonia �Iexicana Addition and the Fast
boundary line ok Salt Lake Tract for the Southwest
corner of this description -
Thence N. 12 dog. 581 16" B. with the Last
boundary line of the Salt Lake Tract and the West
boundary line of Colonic Mexicans, Addition a
distance of 144.31 feet for a corner of this
description-
Thence, h. 35 deg. 161 01" E. parallel to and
125 feet West of the Meet boundary line of Burns
Street, a distance of 91.51 feet for the Northwest
corner of this description-
Thence S. 54 deg. 431 79" E. with the North
boundary line of Lots 1 and 24 of said S.E. 1/4
of s3lock A, Colonia Mexicans Addition, a distance
of 125 feet to the place of beginning.

1. It is understood and agreed that the leased premises
are to be used by Lessee for the purpose of placing thereon a
surplus Government 'building, which it has secured from the Federal
Works Agency, to be used for the purpose of providing Veteran's
Educational Facilities for negro students; and that the placing
of such building on said land, and any additions thereto, or
remodeling, thereof, will be at the sole cost and expense of Lessee.
2. Lessee agrees to pay for all utilities used on the
herein leased premises and shall promptly execute and fulfill all
ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi applicable to said premises,
and all orders and requirements imposed by the Hoard of Health,
Sanitary and Police Departments, and for the correction, prevention
and abatement of nuisances, in, upon or connected with said premises
during the term of this lease at its own cost and. expense.
3. Lessee shall have the ri4,ht, at any tir,�, to remove
all improvements placed by it upon the hereir: leased premises, and
at any time said premises cease to be used by Lessee for the purpose
of Veteran's Educational Facilities, such Liiprovement s, as may have
been placed thereon by Lessee, shall promptly be removed by Lessee,
and this lease shall irxaediately terminate.
4. Lessee is to have the option to renew this lease at the
expiration thereof, for such term and consideration as may be
agreed upon by the City. W

SECTION 2. The fact that it is necessary to have proper
facilities for Vateran +s L'ducational Facilities in the City of Corpus
Christi creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity
requiring; the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at tl�rec several
meetings of the City Council, and t7e F yor Navin.- declared that such
public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested
that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be
in full force end effect from and after its passage, 1T IS

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rate or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and -that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
