+iI-IEREAS, there is due the stun of Four Thousand One hundred
and Sixty Iwo Dollars and Ninety -eight Cents (�- x.,162.98) to Brown w
Hoot, Inc., from the City of Corpus Christi for special paving assess-
ments for which the City of Corpus Christi has obligated itself to pay;
and
sEL;Rt-AS, there is sufficient funds in the Street Fund No. 108
which is now unencumbered and which funds are available for this purpose;

SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of
Four 'Thousand One hundred and Sixty -two Dollars and 11inety -eight Cents
(,`14,162.98) from the Street Fund No. 108, which money is to be used to
pay for special pavin6 assessment to Broom L Root, Inc., which assess-
ments are due and which the City is obligated to pay.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is necessary to make improvements
to the streets in the City of Corpus Christi and in order to protect
the welfare of the citizens creates a public emergency and public imper-
ative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the 1.ayor having declared that
such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having re-
quested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCOABINGLY SO
ORDAIIdED.

Gentlemen;
I have examined the accounts and fund from which the
sppropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinance attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appro-
priation is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which
sucy appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in
such fund width are not appropriated for any other purpose and
which are available at this time.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Ch 'arter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present *neeting of
the Citv Council.
