HomeMy WebLinkAbout02222 ORD - 02/10/1948AN ORDINANCE No. 2222 AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY STIPULATION WITH THE UNITED STAPES =OF AMERICA RELEASING SAID UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR CONDEMNATION OF CERTAIN EASEMENTS FROM WARD ISLAND TO LOUISIANA AVENUE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized and directed to execute a Stipulation and Motion for Entry of Final Judgment in Civil Action No. 191 in the District Court of the Unitdrd States for the Southern District of Texas, Corpus Christi Division, copy of such being attached hereto and made a part of this ordinance for all intents and purposes. .a k. The f act that the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, has taken over the line located in the easement described in Section 1 of this Ordinance and the fact that the United States of America should' be released from any liability by virtue of their previous condemnation of said easement creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. PASSED AND APPROVED this day of February, A. D. 1948.
