Lhe City Council of tka city of Currus Christi,
was requested, under date of -DPust 6, 1946, to consider an amend-
mant to th xisting zonim ordinance in order to permit the use
of a triangular tract of land formed by the wact Mae of Port
-venua intursectinZ with the Southeast side of frjocott street,
being a Dart of the North quarter of Ve 6outh tartar and the
cast _uartar of the Sonth ouarker of Section G of the jactionized
Portion Of the hoffman 70act lyioC veEt of the Mast agryin of
sort -:venue and joutheast of the Southeast mar,in of krescott
Street in the City of Corpus Christi, Nuecas County, Texas, and
CoRsistinn of six acres owned by the Lee BakinT Company, ten
acres under option to the Ansrican Bottling :forks, and twelve
acres under ootion to T. S. Cyrus, Trustee, and containing.
twenty -eight acres of lard; end
the City Council, of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, subwitted such request to the City oning and :lQnning
Co,mnission on or about the 13th day of Lugust i, D. 1947, and the
same was considered by said zoning and planninE commission, at
its MwtdnGs On the f011Owin, days: .0 ust 21, 1947; --Ue'ust 27,
1947; September 5, 1947; and 3eDtembar 10, 1947, and at the
Peeting of Yanine and Planning Cotsisaion, held on the 10th
day of 6aptember, 1947, the said Zoning and tlanning Commission
unanimously voted to disapprove the requested amendment to the
existing zoning Ordinance; and,
the City Council was on or about the 16th day
of September, 1947, requested to call a public hearing; in accord-
ance with the provisions of the existing Zoning Ordinances per-
taining to such tract of,land, and in pursuant to such request
did order a public hearing; to be held by the City Council on
the 7th day of October _i. D. 1947, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., for
the purpose of living all interested parties, citizens and
property owners the opportunity to be heard on the _roposed
zoninE classification or the said area, and notices of such
hearing was published in the Corpus Christi press on the 20th
and 27th days of jeptember, 1947, and the 2nd day of October,
1947; and,
the City Council did on the 7th day of October,
A.D. 1947, at the time and place specified in said notice,
hold such specified hearint where all interested citizens,
property owners and other parties had an opportunity to be
heard on the proposed amendment the Zoning Ordinance and map
of the City of Corpus Christi; and,
YHLirS, at such hearing all of the discussions and pro-
posals in regard to said zoning by parties appearing thereat
were heard and considered by the City Council; and,

1947, pass an ordinance amending; the present zoning insofar as
the same applied to the tracts of the Lee Baking Company and the
tract under option to the .',raerican Bottling Company were con-
cerned, zonin-; the same for Business use District; and,

containing twelve acres, under option to A a. Cyrus, Trustee,
was in need of furth.ar study by the City Zoning and Planning
Commission, and thereafter the Zoning and llonnino Commission

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause
of the forevoin +E ordinance, a public emerjency and imerative
public necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter Rule
requiring that no ordinance or resolution be gassed finally on
the date of its introduction, and that such ordinance or resol-
ution shall be 'read at three several meetings of the City Council.
I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter Rule
or requirement, and pass said Ordinance on the date of its
introduction, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
