HomeMy WebLinkAbout02271 ORD - 05/11/1948AN ORDINANCE Z 2 %/ AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO MCUTE A CONTRACT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS ChRISTI, TEXAS, WITH VANDEWATER, SYKES & NECKLER, ATTORNEYS, FOR EXAMINING THE PROCEEDINGS AND RENDERING OPINIONS ON THE FOLLOYVaNG TAX SUPPORTED BONDS, ONE MILLION FOUR N,DRED AND SALTY -FIVE THOUSAND ($1,465.000.00) DOLLARS, STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENT BONDS; FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FIVE THOUSAND ($585,000.00) DOLLARS, STREET IMPROVM41ENT BONDS; NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND ($950,000.00) DOLLARS. sm'VER IMPROVH`fdENT BONDS; ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND ($I00,- ODO_00) DOLLARS, AIRPORT ILIPROV_El�'`.T BONDS; ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND ($150.000.00) DOLLARS, PARK IMPROVEMENT BONDS, AND DECLARING AN E«RGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi is hereby authorised and directed to execute a contract on behalf of the City with Vandewater, Sykes & Heckler of New York City, for services to be performed by Vendewa.ter, Sykes & Heckler in ...min- ing the proceedings and rendering opinions on tax supported bonds voted in the City of Carpus Christi on April 10, 1948. That said Vandewater, Sykes & Heckler are to receive for their services the sum of Two Thou- sand Seven Rumdred ($2,700.00) Dollars, a— being divided as follows, to-wita $1,465,000 Storm Sewer Improvement Bonds - ;'x'1,200. $ 585,000 Street Improvement Bonds - 500. $ 950,000 sanitary Sewer Improvement Bonds - 750. $ 100,000 Airport Improvement Bonds - 100. $ 150,000 Park Improvement Bonds - - 150. TOTAL $2,700. SECTION 2. The fact that the services herein mentioned are essential for the marketing of the bonds described in this ordinance and the fact that said services must be obtained at once creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed Finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
