TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF THREE HUNDRED AND
SEVENTY -FIVE (075.00),DOLLARS FROM PUBLIC
HEALTH DEPARTMENT, WELFARE DIVISION, BUDGET
ITEM; MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES, (SPECIAL SER-
VICES-- JUVENILE DEPARTh IT) TO PUBLIC SAFETY
DEPARTMENT, POLICE DIVISION, BUDGET ITEM;
SALARIES AND WAGES, (JUVENILE OFFICERS); AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, there is needed in the Public Safety Department,
Police Division, Budget Item; Salaries and Sages, (Juvenile Officers),
the sum of Three Hundred and Seventy -five (3375.00) Dollars to pay
the salaries of juvenile officers from Slay 16 to August 1, 19118; and,
WIiEREAS, there is sufficient funds in Public Health Depart-
ment, Welfare Division, Budget Item; Miscellaneous Services, (Special
Services -- Juvenile Department), which is now unencumbered and which
funds are available for this purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby transferred the sum of
Three Hundred and Seventy -five 0375.00) Dollars from Public Health
Department, ,iel£are Division, Budget Item; Miscellaneous Services,
(Special Servioes -- Juvenile Department) to Public Safety Department,
Police Division, Budget Item; Salaries and })ages, (Juvenile Officers),
which money is to be used for payment of juvenile offi cars salaries
from Way 16 to August 1, 1948.
SECTION 2. The necessity for providing proper juvenile
officers and the payment of their salaries creates a public emergency
and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Counoil, and the Mayor
having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity
exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
Passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
I hereby recommend that the sum of Three Hundred and Seventy -
five ( #0375.00) Dollars be transferred from Public Health Department,
Welfare Division, Budget Item; Viscellaneous Services, (Special Services
-- Juvenile Department) to Public Safety Department, Police Division,
Budget Item, Salaries and 'vuages, (Juvenile Officers). This is necessary
to make payment of salaries for juvenile officers from May 16 to
August 1. 1948, and the funds ar available in the funds from which they
are to be transferred for this purpose.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally om the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
