SEC ICN 1. That the work of construction o� grading,
drainage structures, flexible bases and surfacing T, "innesota Avenue
and Carrol Lane in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, performed by
Heldenfels Brothers having been per£orried and completed in accordance
with the terms and provisions of the contract and the plans and speci-
fications therein contained, —'d contract being dated the 15th day
of October, k. D. 1917, and said contract being between the City of
Corpus Christi, the County of Nueces and Heldenfels Brotaers and the
said Director of Public Works having inspected the same and certified
to the completion of said work in accordance with said plans and
specifications, and said work aforesaid is hereby found to have been
completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and is here
now accepted and received by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That final payment due under the contract in the
sum of Three Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars and shirty -five Cents
($3,700.35) be made in accordance v,ith the terns of such contract.
SECTION 3. The necessity for providing adequate streets in
the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and public
imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at 'three several meetings of the City Council, and the layor having
declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist,
and 'having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that
this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or reeuirement that n
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is o
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
