BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTIDN 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus
Christi, Tema, is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a
compromise settlement on behalf of the said City with D. If. Nicholson
and is to pay the said D. VV. Nicholson the sum of Seventy -five ($75.00)
Dollars in full settlement, a copy of the release executed by D. W.
Nicholson is attached hereto and made a part hereof for all pertinent
purposes and reads as follows, t it:

SECTION 2. That the said sum of Seventy -five 075.00) Dollars
above mentioned is to be paid out of Park Department, Budget Item, "E. D.
Judgments and Damages".
SECTION 3. The necessity for compromising disputed claims
against the City in order to eleminate excessive expenditures regarding
same creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity re-
quiring the susp—ion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolu-
tion shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter
rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
Foregoing ordinance, a public — rgenay and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; S, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
