HomeMy WebLinkAbout02282 RES - 05/25/1948A RESOLUTION ! o . 2 2 72 APPROVING A COITROMISE BETnEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND RAYTMUNDO LONGORIA, D/B/A LONGORIA TAXI COMPANY, AKD DECLARING AN EM6.RGENCY. VIEEREAS, a dispute exists between the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a municipal corporation, and Raymundo Longoria, d/b/a Longoria Taxi Company, as to whether or not the City of Corpus Christi is en- titled to keep or whether Raymundo Longoria is entitled to recover from the City of Corpus Christi the sum of Sixteen hundred and Eight ($1608.00) Dollars, the same being gross receipts taxes or street rental fees or license fees paid by said Raymundo Longoria, d/b/ Longoria Taxi Company to the City of Corpus Christi from Play, 1946, to the 15th day of September, 1947; and, MIEREAS, said Raymundo Longoria has agreed to accept the sum of Fourteen Hundred ($1400.00) Dollars in full payment of said claim and has agreed that the monies to be paid to him under this compromise settlement shall not actually be delivered to said Raymundo Longoria, but the same shall be set up on the books of the City of Corpus Christi as a credit to Raymundo Longoria, d/b/a Longoria Taxi Company and that same shall be credited to the payment of any and all street rental fees or license fees or like charges legally made against Raymundo Longoria, d/b/a .Longoria Taxi Company as they accrue until the principal sum above mentioned has been exhausted; NO4, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRIS ^.I, TEXAS, SECTION 1. That the facts set out in the preamble to this Resolution are trues and correct and are hereby approved. SECTION 2. The necessity for settling differences which have arisen between the City and Raymundo Longoria, d/b/a Longoria Taxi Company regarding licenses and fees paid in order to expedite further oollection of license, fees creates public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter ryile that no ordinance shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this Resolution be passed finally an the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDDINGLY SC RESOLVED.
