HomeMy WebLinkAbout02287 RES - 06/01/1948A RESOLUTION ;� o • 2 2- R�7 AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO CAUSE TO BE FILED WIT H THE BOARD OF WATER ENGINEERS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS AN APPLICATION IN BEHALF OF TIM CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI FOR AN AMENDED WATER PERMIT TO APPROPRIATE, STORE AND DIVERT CERTAIN WATERS OF UN- APPROPRIATED WATERS OF TAE STATE OF TEXAS BY USE OF IMPOUNDING A11D DECURING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, it Is deemed necessary that Water Permit No. 933 in favor of the City of Corpus Christi from the Board of Water Engineers of the State of Texas be amended to cover other uses than those set out i- the present permit; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to cause to be filed with the Board of Water Engineers of the State of Texas an application in behalf of the City Of Corpus Christi for an amended permit to appropriate, store and divert certain waters of unappropriated waters of the State of Texas by the use of impounding, a copy of said application being attached hereto and made a Part hereof for all pertinent purposes. SECTION 2. That the Mayor and City Manager be authorized and directed to file all plats, maps and instruments necessary for Procuring said amended water permit and do all things necessary and requisite thereto. The applicants request the right to transport appropriated water requested in this application along the natural channel or bad of the Nueces Fiver from the impounding reservoir to Calallen Filtration Plant and Pump Station. The necessity for providing adequate water aupply for different water uaera in the City of Corpus Christi creates an emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at throe several meetings of the City Couaoil, and the May— having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its intraductim: and take effect and be in full force and affect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY RES01WED. I, therefore, hereby request that You suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this resolution finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
