On this the 15th day of June 1918, the City
Council Of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, convened in Regular
Yeating, with the following members of said Council present, to -dt,

quorum, at which t' the following among other business was transacted,

the Council, an Ordinance. The Ordinance was read by the City secretary.
The blayor presented to the Council a communication in writing pertaining
to said proposed Ordinance, as follows,

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pas, this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.

Commissioner p(}_� made a motion that the Charter
provisions prohibiting ordinances from being passed finally on the date
introduced be suspended for the reasons stated in the written request of
the Mayor and stated in Ye emergency clause of the Crdinence. The motion
was seconded by Mr. The motion was carried by a
unanimous vote by the City Council, viz;
AYESt Commissioners Clark, Ferris, Henry and Dawson.
PIAYES. None.
Mr. �d.PI ��j made a motion that the ordinance be
passed finally. The motion was seconded by Mr. The
motion was carried by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Clark, Ferris, Henry and Dawson.
NAYES: Bone.
The Mayor requested that the records show that he voted ?Aye.
This was done.
The Mayor announced that the Ordinance had been passed. The
Ordinance is as follows;

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, did
on June 11, 1948, receive certain offers for the bonds hereinafter described,
pursuant to an Official Offering thereof. Said bonds being briefly described
as follows,
Storm Sewer Improvement Bonds, $1,1465,000.00;
Street Improvement Bonds,
585,000,00;
Sanitary Sewer System Improvement
Bonds,
950,000.00;
Airport Bonds,
100,000.00;
Park Improvement Bonds,
150,000,00;
and,

'j 3. The fact that the contemplated improvements are necessary for
'..'ithe orderly development and growth of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
'.j creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the

suspension of the Charter Rule providing that no ordinance or resolution shall
'.be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council and
the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity
exists and having requested that said Charter Rule be suspended and that this
ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, it is accordingly so ordained,
