ALPPHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY WITH W. R. REID. DEVELOPER, FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF WXTER LINES IN BLOCK 1 AND
B IN LURR PARS SUBDIVISION IN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI AND DECLARING AN FMRGENCY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CONNCIL OF TH3 CITTY [R' CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to execute a Contract for and on behalf of the City of Corpus
Christi with W. R. Reid, Developer, for the installation of water lines
in Block 1 and B of Lamar Park Subdivision, a copy of said Contract being
attached hereto and made a part hereof for all pertinent purposes.

WEMTRAS, W. R. Reid of nneocs County, Texas, is the owner and
davaloper of Block 1 and B of Ismar.Park Subdivision in the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, and is desirous of supplying water to said subdivisions
NOW, THW.REFOU. This agreement made and entered into this the
__day of June, A. D. ig4a, by and 'between the City of Corpus Christi,
Toxas, a municipal Corporation, hereinafter tolled "City ", and E. R,
Reid, hereinafter Celled "Developer ',

The City agrees for and in consideration of the sum of One
Thousand Aline Hundred and Sixty -Eight Dollars ($1,968.00) Casa in hand
paid by the Developer; receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and
confessed, to furnish the necessary water lines to serna Block 1 and B
of Lamar Park Subdivision, Sections 1 and 2, in conformity with the
water line layout of said Subdivision prepared by Haile and McClendon,
Ltd., Consulting ungineora, end on file ir. the offices o:' the Director
of Publio ?Forks of the City of Corpus Christi, reference to which water
• line layout plan is hereby made for all intents and purposea, said in-
stallation of said water lines to be at the exponso of the City. An
water lines to be installed are to be fcur -inch W) lines.

It is further aimed and understood that upon completion of
this work all water lines placed in said aubdivisi— are to become the
Property of the maid Cityj and it in hereby understood and agreed that
the Developer conveys by the execution of this instvinant all right,
title, interest and claim he may have in and to any and all water lines
installed in aocordame with this agreement, to the City of Corpus
Christi, its successors and assigns.

It is understood and agreed that the City will begin work
oa installing of said water lines as soon as reasonably pomaible, and
will prosecute the work diltgently to conclusion, in accordance with
the tort hereof. It is further understood and agreed that the portion
hereto will cooperate with each other and that Developer will hold up
construction of the paving of the streets in said subdivision until the
said water lines have been laid► provided, however, that should mw
street be already laid, and it le ,acossary, in the aouree of comply,-
in with this contract, that the City dig up suy part of said street or
streets, the City shall fill up such holes or ditches as it may have
dug, but the City is under no obligation to regrade, resurface or re-

SECTION 2. The necessity for providing proper water Facilities
for the citizens of Corpus Christi and the surrounding area creates a
public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution
.hall be read at three several meeting. of the City Counoil. and the
Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity
exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that
this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full fcroe and effect Prom and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAIRM.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the

introduced, end that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
