AIMREAS. heretofore on the 330th day of December, 1947, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed finally an Ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING ELECTRIC ITIRIIiG ,TITNILa THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, FOR SAFEGUARDIIuG PERSONS AND PROPERTY AND PROWTING THE WELFARE OF THE PUBLIC; CREATING THE OFFICE OF CHIEF ELECTRICAL ISPECTOR AA PRESCRIBING HIS DUTIES, RIGHTS AND AUTHORITY; ESTABLISHING STANDARDS NUR ELECTRICAL EQUIPAGNT AND FOR ITS INSTALLATION AND REQUIRIKG CONFURDZITY THERE- WITH; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO UNDERTAIM THE IN- STALLATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPIZNT WITRODT A PERMIT THEREFOR, EXCEPT AS OTHEMSE PROVIDED; PROVIDING FOR TEE REGISTRATION OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS AND CONTRACTORS; ESTABLISHING IN- SPECTION PERMIT FEES; PROVIDING PEFAITIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE. "' WHEREAS, it is considered to the best interests of the City that said Section 9 -7 (a) of said Ordinance be amended in the particulars hereinafter at forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE .CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 9-7 (a) of Ordinance No. 2204 is hereby amended and the same shall be as follows, to -wit, "WIRING TO BE ENCASED IN CONDUIT. ALL ELECTRIC WIRING FOR LIGHTS, NEAT AND POFIER, OR OTHER PURPOSES, HEREAFTER TO BE INSTALLED IN OR ON BUILDINGS WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, OTHER THAN ONE OR TWO FARILY DWELLINGS OF WOOD FRWIZ COIISTRUCTION AND DECORATIVE STREET STRINGERS, SHALL, IN ALL CASES, BE INSTALLED ATD ENCASED IN RIGID LETALLIC CONDUIT OR ELECTRICAL NETALLIC TUBING. WHERE THERE ARE NO D-ORE THAN TWO, FIWZ, SINGIE- FAIULY DWELLING UNITS ON ONE SEPARATELY OWNED PARCEL OF LAID, THESE UNITS PRAY BE WIRED IN NONMETALLIC SHEATHED CABLE. TOURIST COURT OR GROUPED COBRCIAL RENTAL COTTAGES SRALL NOT BE CLASSIFIED AS A ONE OR TWO aLY DWELLING HEREIN." SECTION 2. The necessity for providing proper regulations regarding all electrical wiring within the City of Corpus Christi C), oreates a public emergency cad publio imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter Rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and tare effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDIFIGLY ORDAIIED.
