NFEREA.S, the budget of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, con- tains certain items of expenditure supported by proper appropriations for the following items; City Manager, Civil Service and Personnel, Zoning and .Planning Commissions Municipal Golf Courae, Special Appropriation for Legal Opinions, Contingent, City Controller, Purchasing Agent, City Controller, Purchasing Agent, City Attorney, Welfare Divisions Weed Control, Cliff Maus Municipal Airport, Engineering and Construction, Inspection Division and City Hall; and WBREAS, it has been determined that the City can, without detriment to the above named departments reduce the appropriations as followse City Manager 0 3,000.00 Civil Service and Personnel 1,100.00 Zoning and Planning Commission 1,900.00 Municipal Golf Course 1,400.00 Special Appropriation for Legal Opinions 7,700.00 Contingent 1,300.00 City Controller 2,650.00 Purchasing Agent 100.00 City Attorney 1,300.00 Welfare Division 800.00 Weed Control 1,300.00 Cliff Waus Municipal Airport 10,700.00 Engineering and Construction 00 . 00® Inspection Division 3,000-00 City Hall & o 00 and it has been determined that such amounts are, and Will be for the balance Of this year, surplus and Will not be spent; and, WH112 EAS, the Current Fund No. 102 of the City needs additional hinds for Mayor and Commissioners, City Secretary, Library, Park Department, Rion Department, Director of Finance, Tax Division, City - County Health Unit, VD Clinic, Private Premise Inspection, Police Division, Fire Division, Street Lighting, Garbage Collection, Incinerator & Disposal and Street Clean- �,3►S _1_ ing, to satisfactorily carry out various programs to be completed before the end of the fiscal year; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CMUSTI, TEAS: SECTION 1. That the appropriations for Current Fund No. 102 under the following item heads are hereby reduced as follows, to -wit, City Manager $ 3,x•00 Civil Service and Personnel 1,100.00 Zoning and Planning Commission 1,900.00 Municipal Golf Course 1,1100.00 Special Appropriation for Legal Opinions 7,700.00 Contingent 1,300.00 City Controller 2,650.00 Purchasing Agent 100000 City Attorney 1,300.00 Welfare Division 0.00 Weed Control 1,300.00 Cliff Maus Municipal Airport 10,700.00 Engineering and Construction 3.000.00 Inspection Division 800.00 City Hall 800.00 making a total reduction of $37,850.00. That such reduction and appropria- tion leaves unencumbered and unappropriated in the Current Fund No. 102 the sum of $37.850.00, plus $33.450,00, making a total of ;371,300.00 unencumbered and unappropriated in the Current Fund No. 102. SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of excess revenue and the unappropriated monies in Current Fund No. 102 the following amounts for the following budget items, to -wit, Mayor and Commissioners $ 1,200.00 City Secretary 2,900.00 Library 650.00 Park Department 3,100.00 Recreation Department 1,600.00 Director of Finance 2,900.00 Tax Division 2,100,00 City - County Health Unit 5,300.00 V.D. Clinic 400.00 Private Premise Inspection 2,000.00 Police Division 9,4o0.00 Fire Division 10,800.00 Street Lighting 250.00 Garbage Collection 10,000.00 Incineration & Disposal 14,000.00 Street Cleaning 4,700.00 SECTION 3. The fact that it is necessary to reduce the sur- plus amounts set forth in this ordinance and to appropriate the necessary expenditures as herein set forth in order that the proper operating expenses of the City can be met creates a public emergency and public imperative neces- sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolu- tion shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such -2- ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the mayor having declared that such public emergency and impera- tive necessity exist, and having requested that such charter rule be suapended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. City r APPROVED AS TO LEGAL EORMe JG for ? /v !n ant ty Attorney Corpus Christi, Texas -- July n, 1948 TO THE D85MM OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlement For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or regilrement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and oass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
