BE IT OHDAMM BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF ME CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby levied, to be assessed and
collected, in oarrent money of the United States of America, for the
use of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, for the year 19J. and for
each succeeding year thereafter, until otheridse provided and ordained,
an annual direct ad valorem tax of one Dollar ($1.00) on each one Uwa_
dred Dollar, ($100.00) value thereof, on all property, real, personal
and mixed, located within the said City of Oorpus Christi, Texas, upon
which a tax is authorized to be levied by law, end upon all franchises
of all individuals, partners, and oorporations holding franchises Prom
said City of Corpus Christi., Texas, said tax to be appropriated to the
payment and defrayment of current expenses of the government of said
City; and $0.02 of the 01.00 mentioned above is hereby appropriated to
the interest and sinking food of the following,
(a) General Funding Warrants, Series 1929, dated
November 1, 1929.
(b) General Fund Refunding Bonds, Series 1936,
dated April 1, 1936•
SECTION 2. That there is hereby levied to be — .eased
and
collected in current money of the United States of America, for the Huse
Of the City of Corpus Christi, for the year 1944. and for each succeed-
ing year thereafter until otherwise provided and ordained, an annual
direct ad valorem tax of $0.25 on each One Snndred Dollars ($100.00)
of value thereof, upon all property and franchises described in
Section 1 of this Ordinance, said tax to be appropriated and used in
m ki" payments for general street improvements and for building bridges
io the City of Corpus Christi, Taxes; and out of said amount there is
hereby appropriated 00.005 of said $0.25 for the purpose of paying in-
terest and to create the necessary sJnk1"g find to pay the following:
Storm Sewer Funding warrants. Series 1929,
dated January 1, 1929.
SSCTIOII 3. That for the purpose of paying interest and pro-
viding the necessary sinking funds for the payment of outstanding bonds
and bonded indebtedness of the City of Corpus Christi, and for paying
interest and making provisions for the sinnm faod of such future
issues as may be authorised, there is hereby levied for the year 1948,
end for each succeeding yearthereefter, unless otherwise provided and
ordained, to be assessed and collected in current money of the 'united
States of America, upon all property and franchisee described in Sac -
tion 1 of this Ordinance, an annual direct ad valorem tax of $0.75 oa
each One Eundred Dollars ($100.00) of value thereof, which said taxes,
as and when the same shall be collected, shall be appropriated and
credited to the following bond interest and sinking funds of the City of
Corpus Christi:
(a) Out or said amount of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.189 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the ne .... ary

appropriated $0.05 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
singing fund to pay Sanitary Sewer Iaprove-
ment and Extension Bonds, Series 1940, dated
June 1, 19hol -
(d) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.036 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
sinking fund to pay Street Improvement Bonds,
series 19110, dated June 1. 19110,
(e) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.020 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
sinking fund to pay Street Tmrrovement Bonds,
series 1941, dated December 1, 191+1.,
(f) Oat of said amount of $0.75 there is baraby
appropriated $0.003 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
sinldng fund to pay City Bell Improvement
Bonds, Series 1937, dated February 1, 1937;
(g) Out of said amount of $0.75 there in hereby
appropriated $0.0111 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
singing fund to pay street Improvement Bonds,
Series 1946, dated December 1, 1946.

appropriated $0.028 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary

appropriated $0.009 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
sinking find to pay Fire Station Bonds,
Series 1941. dated December 1, 1941;

appropriated $0.006 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and Creating the neoessary
sinking fund to Garbage Garbage Disposal Plant
Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, Ighl,

appropriated $0.014 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
sinking fund to pay Sanitary and Storm Sewer
Improvement Bonds, Series 19111, dated Deoem-
ber 1, 1941;

appropriated $0.006 for the purpose of psy-
ing interest and creating the necessary
sinking fund to pay City Bail Improvement
Bonds, Series 1941, dated December 1, 1941;
(P) Oat of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.010 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary

appropriated $0.010 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary
sinking find to ggay Waterworks Improvement
Bonds, Series 19y1, dated December 1, 1911;
(u) Out of said amount of $0.75 there is hereby,
appropriated 80.011 for the purpose of pav-
ing interest and creating the necessary

appropriated $0.014 for the purpose of pay-

appropriated $0.067 for the purpose of pay-
ing interest and creating the necessary

ment Bonds, Series 191+8, dated June 1, 1948;
(y) Out of said anoint of $0.75 there is hereby
appropriated $0.041 for the purpose of pay-
ing iatereat and creating the neoessary
sinking fund to pay Street ItTr�ovement Bonds,
Series 19h8, dated June 1, 194SR.
SSCTICF 4. All taxes for the year 1948 hereby levied shall
beoome due and payable at the office of the Tax Assonsor- Colleotor of
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, on or after the first day of October,
A. D. 1948, and if the texas levied for said year are not paid on or be-
fore January 31st neat after becoming due, interest shall be charged
upon the gross anoint of the tease due and penalty due until paid at
the rate of one -half of one per cent for each month or fraction
thereof thereafter. Said interest shall be in addition to such
Penalties as ney be hereafter provided for delinquent taaee.
SECTION 5. The fact that the passage of an ordinance gfor the
levying of twee for the City of Corpus Christi for the year 194n is
necessary and important to the people of the City, and the further fact
that the preparation and completion of the tea rolls for the year 1949
is dependent on the passage of this ordinance, and in order that said
tax roll may be oomplsted and ready for the collection of said taxes,
when the same become duo and payable as aforesaid, creates a public
emergeuaq and a publio imperative neoessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule providing that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that Such Ordinance or Resolu-
tion shall be r ead at three meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having doolared that suoh publio emergency and imperative neoessity
exist, and having requested that said Charter rule be Suspended and that
this Ordinance be .finally passed on the date it is introduced, and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT I9

Gentlemen.
For the reaaons set forth in the emergenoy clause of the
foregoing crdi.a.oe, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
Introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Cou.oils I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter role or requirement and pass this Ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
