AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MAXAORR TO EXBCCTE A CONTRACT BY AND
BETPEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
AND BEGDEMLS BROTHERS FOR THE CON-
STRUCTION OF SANITABY SEWER MAINS,
r.ATERATR AND APPURTENANT STRUCTURES
IN THE AREA WEST OF PORT AVENUE AND
SOUTH OF AGRES STREET IN TBE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND n=ARMG
AN EE:RGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to eaeoute for and on babalf of the City of Corpus Christi,
Tesae, a Contract for the construction of Sanitary Sewer Mains, Laterals
and Appurtenant Structures in the area 'Teat of Port Avenue and South of
Agnes Street, whioh Contract has been awarded to Heldenfela Brothers, a
co- partnerabip, in n000rdanos with the plena, apecificationa and contract
documents on file in the City Searetaryts office, and according to the Bid
of the said Heldenfela Brothers, opened on the 22nd day of July, 1948, the
said Bid of Heldenfels Brothers being the lowest and most adv t,%geoua to
the City.
SECTION 2. The £aot that it is to the greatest and beneficial
interest to the City of Corpus Christi that suoh improvements shall be
immediately begun in order to protect the health and general welfare of
its citizens creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolu-
tion shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Counoil, and the Meyor having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity cadet, and having requested that such Charter
rule be Suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
data of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY So OADAT10 .

Gentlemen.
For the reasons net forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduoed, and that suoh ordi —ne or resolution shell be read at
three meetings of the City Counoil, I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduoed, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
