HomeMy WebLinkAbout02336 RES - 07/29/1948A RESOLUTION 2.73 & AUTHORIZING TEE PURCHASS OF SIX OUTSTANDING CIPILIAN DEFENSE MMMOY BONDS, SERIES 1942, AM RMrt+ao-M AND CANCELLATION OF SAID BONDS, SAW TO BE PURCHASED FROM FUNDS NOW AVAILABLE IN FUND NO. 275, OiVILIAN DE- FENSE EMMMOY CONSTRUCTION FUND. AND AUTHM- IZING THANSFER OF THE M1AINIHG FUNDS LEFT IN FOND N0. 275, AFTER PURCHASE OF SAID BONDS, TO SINKING FUND FOR CIVILIAN DEFENSE EMERGENCY BONDS N0. 375, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, there is in Civilian Defense Emergency Construction Fund No. 275, the sum of 06,62D.5% and. WHEREAS, said Fund can no longer be used for the purpose it was created for; and, WHEREAS, all of the Civilian Defense Hmergenoy Bonds for 191x2 issue are now coned by Seawall and Breakwater Bonds Sinld.ng Fund No, 318; and, WHEREAS, it is desirable that as many as aforesaid bonds aq possible be retired in order to reduce the indebtedness of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEW: SECTION 1. That Civilian Defense F.msrgenoy Bonds, Series 19112, Noe. 96 -100, both inclusive, maturing May 1. 1956, and No. 95, maturing April 1, 1955, said Bonds being now owned by Seamen and Breakwater Bonds Sinking Fund No, 318, be purchased by funds In Civilian Defense Emergency Construction Fond No. 275, and that aforesaid bonds be re- tired and cancelled. SECTION 2. That all remaining sums in Civilian Defense Emergency Construotion Fund No. 275, after the purchase of aforesaid bonds, be and is hereby transferred to find No. 375 -- Sinking Fund for Civilian Defense Emergency Bonds of 19112. SECTION 3• The fact that the monies in Civilian Defense Emergency Construction pond cannot be further used for the purpose which they were set up, and the fact that it is beneficial to the City to retire outstanding bonds as soon as possible creates a public emer- gency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinanoe or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall a,33(� be read at three several meetings of the City Cotmoil, and the Mayor having deolared that such publio emergenoy and i-Perative necessity Wdst, and having requested that suoh Charter rule be suspended, and that this Resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduetion, end take effect immediately and be in fall force end effect from and after its passage.
