AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO '
EXECUTE A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI AND SELDSNFELS BROTHERS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITIONS TO AND EXTENSIONS OF
TBE OBO SANITARY SUM SYSTEM, MAINS AND IAM-
ALS, IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND
DECLAWG AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS.
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and direoted
to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a Contract
for the construction of Additions to and Extensions of the One Sanitary Sewer
System, Mains and Laterals, whioh Contract has been awarded to Heldenfels
Brothers, a co- partnership, in accordance with the plans, specifioations
and contract dooments on file in the City Secretary's office.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is to the greatest and beneficial
Interest to the City of Corpue Christi that such improvement shall be
immediately begun in order to protect the health and general welfare of
its citizens creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolu-
tion shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity aaist, and having requested that such Charter
rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the
j date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and offset

from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED,
PASSED AM APPROVED this _3 day of August, A. D. 1948.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency oleuse of the fore -
goiag ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City
Council; S, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule
or requirement and pass this ordinanoe finally on the date it is intro -
duoed, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
