BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEBASa
SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus
Christi, Teals, is hereby authorized and directed to execute a Contract
smith Gladys Bruhl Gibson for and on behalf of the City for the purohase
of the East 65 feet of Lot 10 and East 65 feet of Lot 12, Block 88,
Brooklyn Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Teals, said land to be
used for right - of -way purposes for construction of U. S. Highway No. 181,
a copy of said Contract being attached hereto and made a part hereof for
all pertinent purposes.

GUARANTY TITLE AND TRuer COMPANY
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby further authorized
and directed to deposit One $mdred Dollars ($100.00) with the Guaranty
Title and Trost Company in escrow, as set out in said Contract, said sum
to be paid from Street Improvement Bonds 1918 Construction Fund.
SECTION 3. The fact that it is necessary to obtain proper right-
of-way in order to proosed with the oonstructioa of u. S. Highway No. 181
within the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and public
imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced and that each ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public
emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such
Charter rule be suspended, and that thia ordinance be passed finally ou the
data of its introduotioa and take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAIrM).

For the reasons act forth in the cmerganoy .levee of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity a.J.t for
the suepen.lon of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and peas this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
