BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEAS.
SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, is hereby authorized and direoted to execute a Contract for and on
behalf of the City with R. E. Whitaker and Treasio Whitaker for a lease
for a period o£ one (1) year covering that certain wooden pier ia®ediately
inside and north of the concrete bulkhead, said pier being commonly known
as "Rook Breakwater Pier ", being part of the bayfront project of the City
of Corpus Christi, a copy of said lease being attaohed hereto and made a
part hereof for all intents and purposes.

SECTION 2. 'The fact that the leasing of City owned property
not being used by the City is necessary to bring in needed revenueff creates
a publio emergency and publio imperative necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the P50-or having
declared that suoh publio emergency and imperative necessity exist, and
having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordi-
nance be passed firefly on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full fords and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORD -
RDGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordin.,n -e, a public emergency and imperative neoessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed fir.,lly on the date it is introduoed, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Councils I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
