SECTION 1. That the City lki gar of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, is hereby authorized and directed to execute a Contract with G. C.
Richardson for and on behalf of the City for the purchase of Lot 5, Blook
109 Brooklyn Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, said land to
be used for right- of-way purposes for construction of U. S, Highway No.
1811 a copy of said Contract being attaohed hereto and made a part hereof
for all pertinent purposes.

SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby further authorized
and directed to deposit One Hnadred Dollars ($IO0e00) with the Guaranty
Title and Trust Coqany in escrow, as set out in said Contract, said sum
to be paid from Street Improvement Bonds 19LtS Construction Fund.
SECTION 3. The fact that it is necessary to obtain proper right -
of -way in order to proceed with the construction of U. S. Highway No. 181
wtthin the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and public
imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that
no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the data it is
introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the 4yor having declared that
such public emergenoy and imperative necessity exist, and having requested
that such Chaster rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAI 7D.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
