SECTION 1. That Section 1, paragraph (3) of an Ordi —ca entitled

and approved by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, on the
28th day of September, A. D. 191x2, and as amended from time to time there-
after, be amended so that hereafter Section 1, paragraph (3) shall read in
words and figures as follows:
"For students in actual attendance upon any
academio public or private school, of grades not
higher than the grades of the public high schools
Of the City of Corpus Christi, said utility company
or companies shell provide for the sale of tickets
in lots of twenty, each good for one trip over the
line or lines owned or operated by such utility
company, for the am of Five Cents (5it) per ticket.
Such tickets shall not be sold esoept during the
menthe when auoh schools are in actual session."
SECTION 2. The necessity for providing adequate transportation
for school children, and the public importance of this ordinance creates a
public emergency and a public imperative necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally
on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared that auoh public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and
having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this Ordirenoe

be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and tale effect and be
in full foroe and effect from and after its pessage, IT I8 ACCORDMLY SO

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
