APPROVING OF AND CONCURRING ni THE APPLICATION
OF THE HOUS11M AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CMISTI, -IMAS, TO THE PUBLIC HOUSIIIG ADyINIS-
TRATICN FOP, THE ACQUISITION OF IA Ai?MA II AND
LA ARPIADA III HGUSIYG PROJECTS, AID DECLARING
AN EKERGEiNCy.
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Corpus Christi has
filed with the Public Housing Administration in Washington, D. C., an Appli-
cation for the acquisition by the said Housing Authority of the follovring
described projects:
Project TEE.43.064, La Armada II, oonsists of 100 dvmlling
units located on land owned by the United States Government.
The project contains 71 four and six apartment, two -story
frame buildings with asbestos siding. The project is
located adjacent to La Armada I, which is a part of the
low -rent housing program.
Projoot =- L1o65, La Armada III, contains 19 four and six
apartment, two -story buildings, 100 dwelling units with
wood siding. The project is located on Government owned
land, approximately one -half mile from La Armada II;
and,
;7MIBAS, it is the expressed purpose of the Housing Authority of
the City of Corpus Christi if it is permitted to acquire the above described
properties to use them for low-rent housing purposes; and,
'fiUZMAS, such use of such property would be in accord with tlu,
City Counoills desire and plan to do all possible to eliminate slum con-
ditions in the City of Corpus Christi.
NOv7, TBEREFORS;, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUPICIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TE%AHt
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby approve of and
commend the Application of the Housing Authority of the City of Corpus
Christi to acquire the above described properties, and does hereby pledge
its 000peration to the seid Housing Authority in its attempts to alleviate
slum conditions in the City.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is of grave importance to the citizens
of the City of Corpus Christi to do all possible in relieving the alumm con-
ditions that exist in the City of Corpus Christi, which oonditions are a
dire threat to the health and comfort of the citizens of the said City
creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended.
and that this resolution be passed finally on the date or its introduotion
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDIIIGLY SO RESOLVED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency ola=e of the fore-
going Resolution, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetiags of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or - requirement and pass this resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
