AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTM TEE CITY
VAIT GER TO PURCHASE FOR TEE CITY
LOTS 1, 3. 5, 7. 9 AND 11, Ed BLOCK
A -5. BROOKLYN ADDITION TO THE CITY
OF CORMS CHRISTI FOR THE SUS: OF
"Ol,400.00, SAID LAND TO BE USED FOR
RIGHT -OF -NAY PIIRPOSES FOR U. S. HIGH -
MAY NO. 181; AND DECLARING AN Efti;B.-
GENCY.
M R =1 , Edward R. El.eberg, president and Director, and Richard
King, Director, being the sole surviving Directors of Rincon Improvement
Company, a dissolved Texas Corporation, and acting as Trustees in liqui-
dation of said corporation, have offered to sell to the City Lots 1, 3. 5,
7, 9 and 11, in Block A -5, Brooklyn Addition to the City for the sum of
01,400.00, and,
'P(MMAS, said sellers have agreed to furnish policy of title
insurance covering the aforesaid property= and,
WBEREAS, said property is needed for right -of -way purposes for
U. S. Highway No. 181,

OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEY.AS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, is hereby authorized and directed to purchase for the sum of
$1,400.00 Lots 1. 3, 5. 7. 9 and 11, in Block A -5, Brooklyn Addition ..from
Edward R. Eleberg and Richard King, Trustees in liquidation for the Rincon
Improvement Company, said land to be free and clear of all liens and en-
cumbrances, and the sellers are to pay all taxes through the year 1947,
and their pro -rata portion of the taxes for the year 1948. However, said
lend is to be subject to an oil and gas reservation in favor of the King
Ranch and to a Right-Of-174Y Easement from the City to the National Gas
Corporation.
SECTION 2. The said aun of $1,400.00 is to be paid from Street
Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for providing adequate right -of -ways
in order to build proper streets and bighwaya within the City of Corpus
Christi creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or

resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Couuoil,
and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set Earth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinanoe, a public emergency and i,p —tive neoeeeity
exist for the suapeasion of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
Introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that
yeu suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
