AUTHORIZING ADD DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGFR
TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY WITH THE UNITED STATES OF dNEBICA,
WAR ASSETS AMNISTRATION TO FURNISH WATER
AT THE GREAT SCUTHFW CORPORATION PLANT AT
CORPUS CHRISTI, TESAS, AND DECLARM AN
EMERGENCY.
HE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby, authorized and directed
to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a oontraot with
the United States of Ameri•ca,Nar Assets Administration for furnishing water
at the Great Southern Corporation Plant at Corpus Christi, Texas, said con -
treat to be for a term effective as of September 4, 1948, and ending June
30, 1949, a copy of said contract being on file in the office of the City
Secretary.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is beneficial to the City to supply
water to various industries and users of water in and adjacent to said City
creates a public emargency and public imperative necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or
resolution =hall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessi-
ty exist, and having requested that each Charter rule be suspended, and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY s0 ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergenoy clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a pablio emergency and imperative necessity erist for the sus-
pension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolutioa
shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordi-
nance or resolution sha11 be read at three meetings of the City Council;
I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said charter role or require-
ment and Pass this ordinance finally on the data it is introduced, or at
the present meeting of the City Council.
