1-TOMAS, the Zoning and Planning Cocmission of the City of
Corpus Christi has recomnended to the City Council that it is advisable
to matte the hereinafter set out changes in the present Zoning Ordinance
and the Zoning Lisp of the City of Corpus Christi; and,

September 7, 1948, ordered a Public Hearing to be held on the 28th day
of September, 191;&, at 14:00 o'clock P. Y.; end,

SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and LTap of the City of
Corpus Christi passed on the 27th day of Au;ust, 1937, appearing in
Volwne 9 at Pages 565 at soq of the Ordinance and Resolution :teoords of
the City of Corpus Christi, and as amended from time to time, and in par-
ticular as amended by Ordinance go. 2266 passed and approved by the City
Council of said City on the 14th day of L;ay, lgb,8, and appearing in Volume 16,
pages 339 et seq of the Ordinanoo and Resolution Records of said City be
amended as iollo s:

1. That Article %S, section 2 of said Ordinance No. 2266
pertaining to Special Council Permits, passed on May 4th, 1946, be
emended so that, the City Council shall be authorized to grant Special
Permits for drive -in theaters, subject to the conditions and provisions
set forth in said Article X1.
SECTION 2. That the said Zoning Map approved by the City Council
on May 4th, 1948, be amended in the following respects:
1. That Lot. One (1), Two (2), and Three (3), Block One (1),
and Lots one Hundred (1001 One Hundred and One (101) and One Hundred and
Two (102), Block Two (2), of the Monterrey Addition to the City of Corpus
Christi, be and the same acre hereby rezoned from OA-2n, Second Apartment
House District Use to nH /.n, Primary Business District Use.
MOTION 3. That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus
Christi is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in oon-
flict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. That the said Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City
of Corpus Christi, approved on the said 4th day of May, 1948, except as
herein changed sball remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 6. The fact that it is of the greatest public importance
to put in force immediately the changes in the Zoning Ordinance and Map as
hereinebove provided, for the purpose of providing for the orderly and
progressive growth of the City, and the necessary protection of the lives,
health, property and welfare of the citizens creates a public emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring the s6spension of the Cbarter
Rule providing that no ordinaaoe or resolution be passed finally on the
date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three (3) several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having
declared that such public emergency and such imperative public necessity
exist, requests that said Charter Rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance
take effect and be in full force and affect from and after its passage and
after its publioation one time as is provided and required by the Charter
Of the City of Corpus Christi, AM IT IS SO ORDP,IPIED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three aooti.ags of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present me -tiny of
the City Council.
