WHEREAST Section 2 of the Ordinance No. 22558 passed and approved on the 13th day of April, 1945, recorded in Volume 16, page 263, Ordinance - Resolution Records of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, provides as follows "Section 2. That Section 2 of Abft.le V of the rules and regulations be amended by the addition at the end of said Section, the following proviso: "Provided that for a period of six nor. tha after April �2, 1948, the Civil Service Board may make esceotions as to residence require- meats of employees by an order entered into th Minutes of the Board." and WHEREAS$ the Civil Service Board has unanimously recom mead.ed that the Oouncil approve an amendment to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations such that the Board Might exercise, for a period of six months after October 12, 1945, power to make execpt- ions as to residence requirements of emeloyeeasby an order entered Into the Minutes of the Board: NCR. THEPEFOREI BE IT CRUM BY T, CITY 00 UNOIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRITI$ TESAS: SECTION 1. That Section 2 of said Ordinance No. 2255 be and the same is hereby repealed and declared to be of no further force or effect. SECTION 2. That, in accordance with the recommendation of the Oivil Service Board. Section 2 of Article V of the Rules and Regulations of the Civil Service Board be amended by the additio4 at the end of said Section, of the following proviso: ,:�: --Iqc) sProvided.that for a period of six monthe after October 12;-19481 the -Civil Service Board may make exceptions as to reiedence reouirevents of employees by an order entered into the Minutes of the Boards SBCTICN j. The fact that the authority granted heeedn to the Civil Service Board is immediately necessary for the eakcient Adminstration of the classified civil service system of this City creates a public emergency and imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter R.I. providing thet ao Ordinance or Resolution $ball be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three Several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and public necessity exist, and having requested that said Charter Rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance take effect end be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACOOMMLY ORDAXE.
