AND DECLARING AN EiERGnNCY.
000RRAS, the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of
Corpus Christi has recommended to the City Council that it is advisable
to mahe the hereinafter set out change in the present Zoning Nap of the
City of Corpus Christi; and,
7i 1EAS, the City Counoil at its regular meeting held on
September 7, 191A3, ordered a Publio Hearing to be held on the 28th day
of September, 1948, at 4:00 otalock P. N.; and,
WS, proper notice of said hearing pas published in the
manner provided by law; and,
liNERAN.S, the City Council did on the 2 &th day of September,
1948, hold such hoaring, where all interested citizens, property =mars
and other parties had the opportunity to be heard on the proposed omend-
rent, and at such hearing all parties interested and wishing to be heard
wore heard;

SECTION 1. That the said Zoning Map approved by the City Council
on Nay 4th, 1948, be amended in the following respects:
1. That the block bounded by Santa Fe, Horgan and Fifth Streets,
being Bloch Nine (9), Bay-view Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, be
and the same is hereby rescued from "A -1" First Apartment Nouse Distriot
Use to "A -2" Second Apartment House District Use.
SECTION 2. That the official Zoning Dap of the City of Corpus
Christi is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in con-
flict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That the said Zoning yap of the City of Corpus
Christi, approved on the said LIth day of May, 191.0, except as herein
ohangod shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5. The fact that it is of the greatest publio importance
to put in force immediately the change in the Zoning Map as hereinabove
provided, for the purpose of providing for the orderly and progressive
growth of the City, and the necessary protection of the lives, health,
property and welfare of the citizens creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule
providing that no ordinance or resolution be passed finally on the date
it is introduoed and that suoh ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three (5) several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, Paving
declared that such public emergency and such imperative public necessity
exist, requests that said Charter Rule bo suspended, and that this Ordi-
nance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and after its publication one time as is provided and required by
the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, dPTD IT IS SO ORD/MM.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a publio emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that sbch ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, Hereby request tliat
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinancc
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the :rossnt :ceot_n: of
the City Council.
