AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING TBE CITY
MANAGER TO MOM A CONTRACT FOR
AND ON BEHALF OF TEE CITY WITH
HOLDS IELS BROTHERS FOR AN ASPHALT
SURFACE TBRA xaW ON 8,3 MILES OF
STREETS IN THE CITY; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
HE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI.
TRrAS,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a contract
for an asphalt surface treatment on 8.3 miles of streets within the city
limits with Heldenfels Brothers, a co-partnership, oonsiating of F. W.
Heldenfels, F. W. Heldenfels, Jr„ H. C. Heldenfels and J. R. Heldenfels,
all of Nueoes County, Texas, which contract has been awarded said Helden-
fels Brothers in accordance with the plane, specifications and contract
documents on file in the City Seoretary +s office and according to the bid
of the said Heldenfels Brothers opened on the 26th day of November, A. D.
191x, the said bid of said Hsldenfels Brothers being the lowest and moat

advantageous to the City.
SECTION 2. That the sum of $492380.10, which is the amount of
the bid of the said Heldonfels Brothers and the amount to be paid under
the contract described in Section 1 of this ordinance, is to be paid from
Street Improvement Bonds, Series 19148 Construction Fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for maintaining and providing adequate
streets within the City and in order to protect the health and general
welfare of its citizens creates a public emergency and public imperative
necessity requ ling the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordimnoe
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduoed and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared tbat such public emer-
gency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter
rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of
Its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and

Gentlemen,
For the reasons set forth in the emergenoy olauoa of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergeaoy and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of
the City Councils I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said
Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
