HomeMy WebLinkAbout02423 ORD - 11/30/1948AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING TBE CITY MANAGER TO PURCBASE TWO (2) SMALL BUILDINGS NOW LOCATED ON LOTS 3 AND 5, BLOCK 108, BROOKLYN ADDITION, AND TO PAY THEREFOR THE SUM OF TWENTY - FIVE DOLLARS ($25,00) FOR THE CLEAR - ANCE OF HIGHT -OF -SPAY FOR U. S. HIGH- WAY NO. 181; AND DECLARING AN EM- GENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY TER CITY COON IL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEYA i SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City to purchase two (2) small buildings now located on Lots 3 and 5. Block 108, Brooklyn Addition, for the sum of Twenty -five Dollars (025.00), said buildings to be purohased in order to remove same from their present location in order to clear the right- of-way needed for Highway No. 181. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is authorized to pay the sum of Twenty -five Dollars (025.00) for said buildings, same to be paid from Street Improvement Bonds 19148 Construction Fund. SECTION 3. The necessity for providing adequate right- of-may for highways within the city limits creates a public emergency and public im- perative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro- duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergenoy and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that suoh Charter rule be suspended, end that this ordinanoa be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO CRUAINED.
