HomeMy WebLinkAbout02435 ORD - 12/21/1948AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING TBE WORK OF REPAIRS ON WATER TAMW AND TOWERS LOCATED ON SAM RANBSN STREET AND TUELFTH STREET ;. AND AUTHORIZING FINAL, PAYMENT UNDER THE CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENOY. BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEAS. SECTION 1. That the work of repairing water tanks and towers located on Son Renldn Street and Twelfth Street within the City of Corpus Christi performed by Water Tank Service Company, having been performed and completed in accordance with the terms and provisions of the contract and the plane and specifications therein contained, said contract having been authorized by Ordinance No. 2331 passed and approved by the City Council on the 27th day of July, 1948, and same being between the City of Corpus Christi and Water Tank Service Company, and the Director of Public Works having in- speoted the same and certified to the completion of said work in accordance with said plans and speoifications, end said work aforesaid is hereby found to have been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and is here now accepted and received by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Tease. SECTION 2. That final payment due under the contract in the sum of ace Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty Dollars and Eighty -two Cents ($1,910.82) be made in accordance with the terms of such contract and as authorized by Ordinance No. 2h26 passed and approved by the City Council on the 30th day of November, 1948. SECTION 3. The necessity for making adequate repairs to water tanks and towers to insure an adequate water supply for the City creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read - at:three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, end having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed fiaally on the date of its introduction and ta]m effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY 30 Z05 r � fir. is AN OEDMANCE NO. For the rcasona set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative neoessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shell be read at three meetings of the City Cmmoili I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
