CLOSING A PORTION OF MINNESOTA.
AVENUE LYING EAST OF THE EAST
BOUNDARY LINE OF SANTA FE STREET
AND NORTH OF THE URIAH LOTT POR-
TION OF THE GEORGE MAY TRACT IN
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
AND ORDERING AND DIRECTING THE RE-
TURN OF SUCH PROPERTY CLOSED FOR
STREET PURPOSES TO THE ABUTTING
PROPERTY MGRS, AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Christi Hewitt has petitioned the City Council that
a portion of Minnesota Avenue lying East of Santa Fe Street hereinafter
described, be closed for street purposes; and,
wHRREnR, notice of the proposed closing of said street has been
given by publication in accordance with the Charter of the City of Corpus
Christi as provided for under Article II, Section 6 thereof; and,
WHF,@EAS, in accordance with the notice givea as above set out, a
public hearing was held by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi at
4sO0 otolock P. M. on the 11th day of January, 1949, in the City Council
Chamber at the City Halls and,
WHEREAS, the public welfare, convenience and necessity will be
better served by the closing of such streets
N06f. THEMPUR.H. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
SECTION 1. That a portion of Minnesota Avenue described as
follows, to wit:
Situated in the County of Nueoes, State of
Texas, and being that portion of ?Mn sota Avenue,
as dedicated on the map of Port Aransas Cliffs Addi-
tion to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, recorded
in Volume W at page 27, of the Ma Records of
Nueoes County, Texas, lying East (E3 of the East (S.)
boundary line of Santa Fe Street and North (N) of the
North (N) boundary line of the Uriah Lott portion of
the George May Tract, and being a portion of that
certain tract of lend conveyed to w. E. Hewitt by
0. B. Carver at ua, by deed of record in volume 215
at page 561, of the Deed Records of Nueoes County,
Texas,
be, and the Base is hereby closed as a public street and from public use.
SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby quitclaims and
relinquishes all right, title and interest it may have in and to the said
street described in Section 1 hereof to the property oemers abutting said
street.

SECTION 3. The fact that public oonvenienoe and necessity tiwill
be better served by the closing of said street creates a public emergency
and a public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at
three regular meetings of the City Councils and the Mayor, having declared
that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having re-
quested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction, and take offset and be in
full force and effeot from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY 80

Gentlemen:
For the reasons at forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going suspension s public amergeaoy end imperative necessity .:Let for
the auspenaion oP the Charter rills or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shell be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Chaster
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the data it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
