AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF Tit CITY lZTH SLOVAK
BROTBER3 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
MASONRY PALL, STEEL TRUSS ROOF GYM-
NASIUM AT BEN GAM PARK; AUTHORIZING
PAIMENT UNDER SAID CONTRACT; AND DE-
GLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi to execute a contract with
Slovak Brothers, a oo- partnership consisting of Albin P. Slovak, Willie R.
Slovak and Adolf A. Slovak, for the construction of a masonry wall, steel
true. roof gpmn.saium .t Be. Gars. Park, which contract has been awarded said
Slovak Brothers in accordance with the plane, specifioations and contract
documents an file in the City Secretaryts office, and according to the bid
of said Slovak Brothers-, being the lowest and moat advantageous to the City.
SECTION 2. That the sum of Seventy Thousand Si. Hundred and
Ninety -nine Doll.eaand sixty -nines Cent. ($70,699.69) to become due under
said contract shall be paid from Park Improvement Bonds 19�8 Construction
Fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for providing adequate parks and park
facilities within the City creates a public emergency and public imperative
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and impera-
tive necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City
Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule
or requirement and pass this ordiaanoe finally on the date it is intro-
duced, or at the present meeting of the City Couaoil.
