HomeMy WebLinkAbout02460 ORD - 02/01/1949B AN ORMANG AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF TEE CITY WITH SLOVAK BROTBERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MONOLITHIC REINFORCED CCKORETE BOX BERM IN LOUISTAxn AVENUE FROM OCEAN DRIVE TO ALAIMDA STREET; AUTHORIZING PAYMENT UNDER SAID CONTRACT; AND DE- CLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAPIID BY TAB CITY COM401L OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI. TEAS, SECTION 1. That the City Elanager is hereby authorised and directed for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi to execute a contract with Slovak Brothers, a co- partnership consisting of Albin P. Slovak, Willie R. Slovak and Adolf A. Slovak, for the construction of a monolithic reinforced oonorete box sewer in Louisiana Avenue from Ooean Drive to Alameda Street, which contract has been awarded said Slovak Brothers in accordance with the plane, epeulfications and contract documents on file in the City Secretary'a office, and according to the bid of said Slovak Brothers, being the lowest and most advantageous to the City. SECTION 2. That the sum of Two Hundred and Twenty -eight Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty -three Dollars and Tan Cents ($228,683.10) and any other amounts to become due under said contrast shall be paid out of Storm Sewer Improvements Bonds 1918 Construction Fund. SECTION 3. The necessity for providing adequate drainage vItbin the City creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requir- ing the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council. and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and offset from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAZM.
