AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THIS' CITY
MMGER TO PORCBASE LOT 1, BLOCK Al,
AND LOTS 9 AND 11, IAT BLOCK 108,
BROOKLYN ADDITION, FROM J. B. HOBBAND,
ET AL. FOR TIM SUM OF TwMVE HONORED
DOLLARS (81,200,00); PR09IDING FOR PAY-
OF SAME AND ANY TITLE MWIMSE IN-
CIDENT THERETO. TO BE PAID FROM STREET
IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1918 CONSTRUCTION FUND;
AND DECLARING AN E64EEMGY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUEC:1, OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS.
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized end directed
to purchase Lot One (1) of Block Al, and Lots Nine (9) end Eleven (11), Block
One Hundred and Eight (108) of the Brooklyn Addition to the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, from J. B. Hubbard and/or others who may own said land for
the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00), said land to be used for
right -of -way purposes for the oonstruotion of U. S. Highway No. 181, and
that the City Manager is farther authorized and direoted to do all thing.

SECTION 2. That the purchase price Of Twelve Hundred Dollars
(§1,200.00) and any expenses incident to obtaining title to said land are
to be paid from Street Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for acquiring adequate right -of -ways for
highways within the limits of the City creates a public emergency and public
imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinanoe or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City CQ=il, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that suoh Charter rule
be Suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAh7ED.

Gentlemen,
For the reasons set forth iu the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency sad imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that
such ordinanoe or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City
Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suapend said Charter rule
or requirement aad pass this ordinance finally on the data it is intro-
duced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
