DE PUY AND E. D. DE PUY, AED DE- GLARING AN EMERGENCY. 8E IT OPWMT,D BY TEE CITY COM401L OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI. SECTION 1. That the work of construction of certain improvements for bayfront protection and storm mater control performed by J. DePuy and H. D. DePuy, a oo- partnership, in acoordance with the plans, specifications and con- tract documents as filed with the City Council on the 24th day of January, 194,7, and according to the bid of said J. Depuy and E. D. DaIV opened on the 24th day of January, 1947; and the Director of Public 'jorks having inspected the same and certified to the completion of said work in accordance with said plane and specifications, and said work aforesaid is hereby found to have been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and is here now ac- oepted and received by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That there is due and payable from the City at this time as final payment on said contract the sum of 050,836.96, which am is hereby authorized to be paid to J. DePuy and E. D. DaPuy out of Seawall and Breakwater Construction Fund No. 258. SECTION 3. The necessity for providing adequate bayfront protection and atom water control in Order to protect the City and the citizens creates a public emergonoy and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Llayor having declared that such public amergenoy and imperative necessity esl, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended., and that this ordiru:nce be passed finally on the date of its introduction q e effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDBGLY SO ORDAI17;D. For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore- going ordinance, a public emergeacy and imporative nsoesaity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Counoil; 1, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Counoil.
