HomeMy WebLinkAbout02496 RES - 03/29/1949A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY YANAGER TO NEGOTIATE WITH WAR ASSETS ADMINIS- TRATION FOR SURPLUS PROPERTY AND TO DO THE THINGS REQUISITE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO SECURE. SURPLUS PROPERTY FROM WAR ASSETS ADMINISTRATION UNDER SURPLUS PROPERTY ACT OF 19114; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the following official, H. H. Allen, City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, is hereby authorised to negotiate with War Assets Administration for surplus property to be leased or disposed of under the Surplus Property Act of 1944, as amended, and other laws, rules and - regulations, and to accept, sign and execute all necessary papers, documents, correspondenos and instruments in connection therewith; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, hereby adopts and ratifies all the terms and conditions of any such papers, docu- ments, correspondence and instruments. SECTION 2. The necessity for acquiring surplus property from War Assets Administration in order to improve the sewerage system of the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emer- gency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this resolutionbe passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED.
