AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN INDEMNITY BOND
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY IN
WHICH THE STATE OF TEXAS IS TO BE
INDEMNIFIED NOT EXCEEDING THE Sind OF
$90.72 FOR ANY LOSS SUSTAINED BY
VIRTUE OF ISSUING A DUPLICATE TO
WARRANT N0. 348971 IN FAVOR OF THE
CITY WATER & GAS DEPARTMENT; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the State of Texas, acting through the State Highway
Department, deposited in the mail on March 25, 1948, State Warrant No,
3441 in the amount of Forty -five Dollars and Thirty -six Cents ($45.36).
same being mailed to the City Water & Gas Department; and,
WHEREAS, said Warrant was never received by the City Water & Gas
Department, but has evidently been lost or destroyed; and,
WHEREAS, the State of Texas demands an Indemnity Bond in the
sum of Ninety Dollars and Seventy -two Cents ($90,72) before it will issue -
a duplicate Warrant;
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THB CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
for and on behalf of the City to execute an Indemnity Bond to Beauford Jester,
Governor of the State of Texasy and his successors in office, in the am of
Ninety Dollars and Seventy -two Cents ($90,72.), indemnifying the State for any
loss it might incur by virtue of issuance of duplicate of said Warrant No.
348971, and the said City Manager is further authorized to do the things
requisite to procur the payment of said Warrant.
SECTION 2. The necessity for collecting revenue due the Water & Gas
Department of the City of Corpus Christi, creates a public emergency and public
imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule
be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council, I. therefore,
hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement end pass this
ordinance Finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
