D. 1949, PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF LOT NO. 11, IN BLOCK NO. 109, BROOKLYN ADDITION FROM MESOG V. DONIGAN, ET AL, FOR TEE SUM OF FOUR HUN- DRED DOLLARS ($1400,00); PROVIDING THAT PAYMENT FOR TIM PURCHASE OF SAME SHALL BE PAID FROM STRE2T IMPROVEIZNT BONDS 1948, CONSTRUCTION FUND; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 21463, passed by the City Council on the 1st day of February, A. D. 1949, the City Manager was authorized to purchase Lot No. 11 in Block No. 109, Brooklyn Addition from Mssog V. Donigan, Parrot V. Donigan, Zareh V. Donigan, -Mrs. Lucy V. Welch, and Mrs. Nectarine V. Walker and husband, for the sum of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.0o); and, WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi was unable to acquire title to said property for the price of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 2463, passed and approved by the City Council on the 1st day of February, A. D. 1949, is hereby amended so that Section 1 shall read as follows, to -wit: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed, for and on behalf of the City, to pur- chase Lot No. Seven (7), in Block No. One Hundred (100), Brooklyn Addition, from King Ranch, Inc, for the sum of Nine Hundred Dollars ($900.00); Lots Nos. One (1) and Three (3), in Block No. One Hundred and Nine (109), Brooklyn Addition, from Edward R. Kleberg for the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500,00); Lot No. Eleven (11), in Block No. One Hundred and Nine (109), Brooklyn Addition, from Mesog V. Donigan, Parrot V. Donigan, Zareh V. Donigan, Mrs. Lucy V. Welch, and Mrs. Nectarine V. Walker and husband, for the sum of Four Hundred Dollars ($100.00); and Lot No. Seven (7), in Block One Hundred and Eight (108), Brooklyn Addition, from Francis M. Jones for the sum of $200.00; all of said lands to be used for right -of- way purposes for U. S. highway No. 181 in the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. The fact that it is necessary to obtain proper right- of-way in order to proceed with the construction of U. S. Highway No. 181 within the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and public .... imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mgyor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO PASSED AND APPROVED this_ day of April, A.
