AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF LOTS
NOS. 1, 19, 18 AND 17 ALL IN BLOCK
NO. 5 OF EL REY SUBDIVISION, AN
ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, NOECES COUNTY, TEXAS, FROM
THE COMMUNITY SETmruaM HOUSE, Jae.,
FOR THE SUM OF SIX THOUSAND ONE HUN-
DRED DOLLARS ($6,100.00); PROVIDING
THAT PAYMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAME
SHALL BE PAID FROM :'PARK. IMPROVEMENT
BONDS 1948 CONSTRUCTION FUND; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
9PHERE.AS, the City of Corpus Christi desires to acquire Lots
Nos. 1, 19, 18 and 17, all in Block No. 5, E1 Rey Subdivision, an
Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, for
municipal purposes, and there are sufficient funds in the Park
Improvement Bonds, 19118 Construction Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORD&MV BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is- hereby authorised and
directed for and on behalf of the City to purchase Lots Nos. One (1),
Nineteen (19), Eighteen (18) and Seventeen (17), all in Block No. Five
(5), E1 Rey Subdivision to the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County,
Texas, from the Community Settlement House, Inc., for the sun of Six
Thousand One Hundred Dollars (06,100.00); and all of said lots are
to be used for parks and municipal purposes in the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is necessary to ocaplate negoti-
ations for purchase without delay, that the City is in need of said
property for use vd th other property already owned by the City, and that
said property can be acquired at a fair price creates a public emergency
end public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
it is introduced and that ouch ordinance or resolution shall be read at

three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, end having re-
quested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 3 day of hky, A. D. 1949.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist
for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of
the City Council; I therefore, hereby request that you suspend said
Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
