RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE 'r7ORY OF CONSTRUCTION
OF OCEAN DRIVE BRIDGES IN THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, SAME BEING THE BRIDGES AUTHORIZED UNDER
CONTRACT DATED JULY 27, 19%x8, BEMEN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI AND BELDENFEIS BROTHERS; AUTHORI-
ZING FINAL PAYMENT TO HELDENFELS BROTB;RS UNDER THE
CONTRACT FOR SAID IM�ROVE^uJMS; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,

SECTION 1. That the work of construction of bridges along Ocean
Drive in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, performed by Heldenfels
Brothers, having been performed and completed in accordance with the
berme and provisions of the contract and the plans and specifications
therein contained, said contract having been entered into by and between
the City and Heldenfels Brothers on the 27th day of July, 1946, and the
Director of Public Works having inspected the same cnd certified to the
completion of said work in accordance with said plans and specifications,
and said work aforesaid is hereby found to have been completed in accord -
once with the plans and specifications and is here now accepted and re-
ceived by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That final payment due under the co_tract and as
set out in the final estimate prepared by-the Director of Public SVorks
dated April 25, 1949, in the sum. of Twenty -one Thousand One Hundred
Eighty -one Dollars and Thirty Conte (w21, 18I.j0) be made in accordance
with the terms of such contract and that such payment be made from
Street Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund.
SECTION j. The necessity for providing adequate street cross-
ings of drains along Ocean Drive within the City creates a public emergency
and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordirr ce or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it
is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that
such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested
that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed

finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORD114GLY SO
ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that
no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it
is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this or-
dinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present
meeting of the City Council.
