HomeMy WebLinkAbout02528 ORD - 05/24/1949AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A TRACT OF LAND 680 FEET BY 30 FEET EXTENDING 680 FEET FROM THE NORTH BOUNDARY LINE OF COMANCHE STREET, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, AND TO PAY TEIMFOR TEE SUM OF FOUR THOUSAND EIGHTY DOLLARS ($11,080.00) TO BE PAID FROM NO. 295 INPROV1211UTT BONDS, 191, CONSTRUCTION FOND -- STREET IMPROVEMENTS, FOR STREET PURPOSES FOR TEE EXTENSION OF 19TH STREET NORTHWARD FROM COMANCHE STREET; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIM CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City to purchase a tract of lend 680 feet by 30 feet extending 680 feet from the North boundary line of Comanche Street, said land to be purchased from the Missouri Improvement Company for the sue of $11,080.00 for street purposes for the extension of 19th Street northward from Comanche Street. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is authorized to pay the sum of $4,080.00 for said property, same to be paid from No. 295 Improvement Bonds, 194B Construction Fund -- Street Improvements. SECTION 3. The necessity for providing adequate right -of�y for street purposes within the City limits creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced end that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
