CLOSING THE EAST 15 FEET AND THE WEST 15 FEET OF
THE WIDTH OF ARANSAS STREET EXTENDING FROM THE
NORTH LINE OF DODDRIDGE STREET TO A LINE 100 FEET
SOUTH OF AND PARALLEL TO THE SOUTH LINE OF PROCTOR
STREET, ALL IN PORT ARANSAS CLIFFS ADDITION TO THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS;
THEREBY REDUCING THE RIGET -OF -WAY OF SAID ARANSAS
STREET FROM ITS PRESENT WIDTH OF 80 FEET TO A
WIDTH OF 50 FEET; AND ORDERING AND DIRECTING THE
RETURN OF SUCH PROPERTY CLOSED FOP. STREET PURPOSES
TO TT-1 ABUTTING PROPERTY OVJNEILS; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi has
been petitioned that a portion of Aransas Street hereinafter described,
be closed for street purposes; and,
WHEREAS, notice of the aroposed closing of said street has been
given by publication and by mail to the last known address of all owners
and
abutting said street /xithin 1150 feet therefrom, in accordance with the
Charter of the City of Corpus Christi as provided for under Article II,
Section 6 thereof; and,
V;IMREAS, in accordance with the Notice given as above set out,
a public hearing was hold by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi at 4:00 o7clock P. M. on the 17th day of May, 1949, in the City
Council Chamber at the City Hall; and,
WHEREAS, the public welfare, convenience and necessity will be
better served by the closing of such street:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That a portion of Aransas Street, described as
follows, to -alit:
The East 15 feet and the West 15 feet of the width
of Aransas Street extending from the north line of Dodd -
ridge Street to a line 100 feet south of and parallel to
the south line of Proctor Street, all in Port Aransas
Cliffs Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces
County, Texas, thereby reducing the right- of-way of
said Aransas Street from its present width of 80 feet to
a width of 50 feet,
be and the same is hereby closed as a public street and from public use.
SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby quitclaims
and relinquishes all right, title and interest it may have in and to the
said street described in Section 1 hereof, to the property owners abutting
-" said street.

SECTION 3. The fact that public convenience and necessity
will be better served by the closing of said street creates a public
emergency and a public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed Finally
on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall
be read at three regular meetings of the City Council; and the Mayor,
having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist,
and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this
Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of
the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said
Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
