The Corpus Christi Times, ho nE an afternoon paper, has offered
upon several past occasions an opportunity for the attorneys
for the city of Corpus Christi to view a proof for the purpose
of m akin; corrections before actual p..iolication. In view of the
fact that an error in publication can mean a long and expensive
delay, where the r•eDublication for correction is necessary, the
advantage of a proof can be accepi;ed as a theorum.
Before the Corpus U!'r is ti Pimes became the official organ of the
City of Corpus „nu,isti, in 'asintg a weekly newspaper, occasions
have arisen f noni Lime to Lime necesitatins the use, of a daily
publication such as she Oaller_Times; in which case a contract
not bei n; in force, the olE n race was cha r -el. Hal the contract
price prevailed a ,;teat deal of -gone;% couii nGve been: saved.
„hen Le?cL- Notices are ran, there ha.s been falmost inevitably
a complete coverae of the facts involv(.'.ry in the news sections
of both the Caller and the Times. This being so, the taxpayers
have had a double opportunity of viewing and completely under-
sta-riding the business that was to come before the City of Corpus
