SECTION 1. That Section 1109 of the Corpus Christi Building
Code, of Chanter P.I of Ordinance No. 222, Recorded in Vol=e 6, Page 369
of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, as amended, be amended to read as follovrs:
"Sec. 1109. Roof covering on Type V buildings may be of
galvanized iron or sheet metal laid directly on the mood
roof framing without solid sheathing.
Division 3 buildings of Group F more than six (6) stories
in height shall have all floors of not less than three -
hour Fire - resistive construction as specified in Section
4303-
Division 3 buildings not more than one story in height and
occupied as a cotton compress, cotton warehouse, cotton
compress and warehouse combined or a transit building which
are separated from any other buildings or occupancies by a
clear snaee of one - hundred (1001) feet or more, or by a fire
wall separation as approved by the National Board of Fire
Underwriters may be erected without limitation as to area."
SECTIOUT 2. All other provisions of Ordinance No. 222 hereby con-
tinue in fall force and effect as they now are save and except as herein
emended.
SECTION 3. The fact that a modernization of the Building Code is
necessary to permit construction to be commenced immodiately for construc-
tion of additional cotton warehouses i*itiv.n the City of Corpus Christi

creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this ordinance be passed finally or. the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
Rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
