MODIFICATION OF LEASE AGREEMENT
between
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
and
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
THIS MODIFICATION of a Lease, made by and between THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA, represented-by the Chief of the Bureau of Yards and:;)ooks,
acting under the direction of the Secretary of the Navy, hereinafter called t
the Government, and the CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, located in the County
of Nueoes, State of Texas, hereinafter called the Lessees
W- I- T- N- E- S- S -P-T -H
MR.EAS, on the 15th. day of April, 1947, the parties hereto
entered into a certain agreement of lease whereby the Government granted
and demised unto the Lessee, for occupancy and use in connection with arts
educational program and for such other purposes as may be approved by the
Government as being in the interest of the National Welfare, the use of a
certain tract of land, together with the improvements and installations there-
on and appurtenances thereto belonging, comprosing the former Navel Auxiliary
Air Station, Cuddihy Field, Corpus Christi, Texas and
WHEREAS, The Government and the Lessee desire to amend the said
lease to reserve to the Lessee an additional right and privilege of terminating
said lease.
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing and of the benefits
to the parties hereto, it is hereby mutually agreed that paragraph 18 of the afore-
said lease, dated the 15th* day of Aprib, 1947, is Hefted to read as fo11ASt
"This lease may be terminated by either the Govem-
ment or the lasses, in whole or in part, upon ninety
(90) days written notice to Me other party, as the
case may be. The Governnent reserves the further
right and privilege of terminating this lease in the
event it is detsiadzed by the Secretary of the Navy
that the demised premises, or 4 part thereof, are
required for naval purposes, or in the event of a
National Emergency."
