BOARD THE APPROVAL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, OF THE BOARDoS PROPOSED BUILDING PROGRAM SUGGESTING THE OPENING OF HEGOTATIONS FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF A COMPETANT ARCHITECT TO STUDY THE PROBLEM AND MARE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BUILDING ADDITIONH AND/CR ADDITIONAL UNITS TO THE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL; AND DECLARING AN EMER- GENCY. WHEREAS, the present facilities of the Memorial Hospital are now overcrowded and the hospital facilities in general in the City Of Corpus Christi are inadequate for the proporaticn of the population; and WHEREAS, There is now on hand a bond fund which may be with the Federal and /or State grants of additional funds; and WHEREAS, the facilities should be provided as promptly as possible; NUN, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, does hereby express to the City - County Hospital Board its approval to the taking of immediate action to expand the facilities of the Memorial Hospital and taking the benefit of any public grant %blob may be obtained and increase the bed capacity of the hospital by providing facilities for more pay patients and to this end nsgotations be opened for the employment of a competent architect for the project. y SECTION 2. The public importance of this Resolution creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the sus- pension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance ar Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is iatrodmoed, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City dognail, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this Resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and take offset and be in full force and effect and after its passage, IT IS, ACCORDINGLY, RESOLVED. // PASSED AND APPROVED this 4-+ day of duly, A.
