AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MAN OR, FOR AND ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY, TO PURCHASE 4.757 ACRES OF LAND
LOCATED ON THE CORNER OF CARROLL LASE AND NENT(N7 STREET,
BEING OUT OF LOT 3, SECTION "B" PAISLEY'S SUBDIVISION OF
THE HOFFMAN TRACT, SITUATED IN NOSCES COUNTY, TEYAS, FROM
DR. C. M. WILLIAMBGN AND WIFE, ELIZABETH T. WILLIAMSCU,
FOR THE SUM OF $5.500.00 CASH, AND TITLE EXPENSE; AUTHOR-
IZING AND DIRECTING THE SAID CITY MANAGER TO EEECUTE THE
NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND INSTRUMENTS TO COMPLETE THE PUR-
CHASE OF THE AFORESAID LAND; PROVrDING THAT PAYMENT FOR
THE PURCHASE OF THE SAME SHALL BE PAID FROM N0. 295
IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1948 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STORM SEWER
IMPROVEMENT); AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT CRDAIRED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TSYASs
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorised and
directed, for and on behalf of the City to purchase the following described
land situated in Nueoss County. Teases
A tract of land 1320 feet in length and 138 Peat to 176
feet in width being a portion of a 10 ware tract of land con -
Veydd to C. M. Williamson and wife, Elizabeth T. Williamson
by Jack Harris by deed dated August 216 1947, and recorded
in Volume 375, page L16 of the Deed Records of Nueoss County,
Tease. Said tract of land being more particularly described
by metes and bounds as follows, to -sits
Beginning at the south corner of that tract of land con-
veyed to Winifred Laughlin Benton by J. N. Laughlin, by deed
dated August 25, 1939, and recorded in Volume 249, Page 628
of the Deed Records of Nuseoes County, Texas, which corner is
also the south corner of the northeast i of Lot 3, Section
"B" Paisley's Subdivision of the Hoffman Tract and the south
corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence N 280 10, 20" E with the southeast boundary line
of said Lot 3, a distance of 176 feet to a point for the east
corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence N 630 28' 36" W a distame of 1320.55 feet to a
point for the nogth corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence S 28 10' 20" W parallel with the southeast
boundary line of Lot 3 &.distance of 138 feet to a point for
the west corner of the tract hereby conveyedj
Thence S 610 49' 40" E with the northeast boundary line
of Newton Street a distance of 1320 feet to the plops of
beginiag.
Containing 4,757 acres of land more or lessi
all of said lands to be used for the Proctor Street Drainage Project now
under construction, and other municipal purposes.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to execute the necessary contracts for the Purchase of said land
described in Section 1 hereof and to do all things incident to or requisite
to obtaining the title and possession of said land. i

SECTION j. That the sum of Five Thousand Five &mdred Dollars
( =5.500.00) and such additional suss as may be incurred as title ,expense
Incident to the acquisition of said land are to be paid from No. 295
Improvement Bonds 1918 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvement).
SECTION 4. The necessity for acquiring land at the location of
said land herein described and the fact that the said land is required
immediately for the use of the drainage project now under construction
creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
23 ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
